2024 Subaru WRX STI Horsepower, Redesign, Price

2024 Subaru WRX STI Horsepower, Redesign, PriceIn the best possible way, the Subaru WRX STI is a dinosaur. In a world where most performance sedans and hatchbacks must also be refined enough for daily use, a brazenly aggressive car without the more premium, smooth gloss of something like the Volkswagen Golf R is strangely lovely. The WRX STI is unquestionably practical. However, because of the Subaru bodyshell wrapped around the rugged underpinnings, you feel that practicality is merely a bonus when driving it. Above all, the Subaru is a pure, all-wheel-drive, flat-four beast. That’s precisely what it was created for: to give the most thrilling driving experience possible.

The 2024 Subaru WRX STI is a decent car with several specific benefits and drawbacks. It has outstanding handling and a potent turbocharged engine, making it handy and exciting to drive. All-wheel drive is standard on the WRX, which many other tiny cars lack. The front seats are comfortable, and the infotainment system is simple.

The design of the WRX STI isn’t subtle in the least. It is so openly focused on performance that adding a speaker to the roof, constantly telling other street users what it is will only help. The STI standard includes a large hood air intake scoop, 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers, LED steering-responsive headlights, and a gigantic trunk spoiler. On the Limited variant, a low-profile trunk spoiler is available as a no-cost option, which helps to soften the image. The Limited model comes with a sunroof as standard equipment.

The Subaru WRX STI is somewhat longer than its main rivals, the Volkswagen Golf R and Civic Type R. The WRX STI is a sedan, whereas its competitor is a hatchback. The WRX STI sedan has a total body length of 180.9 inches, similar to that of its hatchback counterparts. The wheelbase measures 104.3 inches in length and 70.7 inches in breadth. The STI is 58.1 inches tall, quite tall for such a powerful vehicle. The standard STI weighs 3,450 pounds at the curb, while the STI Limited weighs 3,514 pounds.

The cabin is designed with a practical notion in mind to improve the driver’s experience. There’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel to the right, a leather-wrapped shifter to the left, and a leather-wrapped handbrake to the left. The torque-split adjustment button is below the shifter, and the driving mode selector is below that. You’ll be able to use these features without taking your eyes off the road in a few days. The athletic and body-hugging seats are constructed of black and red leather. They give enough support in the corners.

The sedan body of the Subaru WRX STI does not provide more excellent inside space, but it does provide a home for the Scooby’s massive rear wing. The front and rear seats have plenty of legroom, with 43.3 inches in the front and 35.4 inches in the back. The regular model without the sunroof has 39.8 inches of front headroom, while the model with the sunroof has 37.2 inches of front headroom and 37.1 inches of rear headroom. The front chairs have enough side bolstering for vigorous cornering, but you can get Recaro seats if you want something more aggressive.

Engine

The 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine now generates 341 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, up from 310 and 290, respectively, in the STI. A 6-speed manual transmission sends power to all four wheels with front and rear limited-slip differentials. Drivers can fine-tune their center differential settings using the Driver Controlled Center Differential.

Because the engine’s most excellent torque is generated at roughly 3,600 rpm, keeping the STI in third gear puts it in the best position for quick corner departures. Yes, I feel every bump on the road with this super-stiff chassis, and the bump steer is a touch unsettling, but the tradeoff is incredible. The STI follows my commands at every turn, slamming into corners like a monster, smoothly escaping and rushing into the next. The throttle response and acceleration are improved when the SI-Drive system is adjusted from Sport to Sport Sharp. Subaru says that the STI can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds, which is impressive and funny.

The Subaru WRX STI will be released and priced in 2024.

The regular model of the WRX STI costs $37,245, while the WRX STI Limited costs $41,945. The brand also charges a $925 destination and shipping fee in the United States.
