New 2025 Subaru Legacy Models, Colors, Release Date – Upon acquiring the 2025 Subaru Legacy, Subaru has infused some unique elements into the mid-size sedan, courtesy of a turbo engine under the hood and a large 11.6-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, reminiscent of Tesla’s design.
While these enhancements may not make a significant difference for the freshly created Legacy, they are set to make an impact in the next-generation Subaru Outback, expected a few months later. However, let’s not stray too far from the topic at hand. The 2025 Subaru will be offered in the base, Limited, Sport, Premium, and Touring trims, with a choice of two engines under the hood.

Features
The touchscreen display is integrated into the Legacy’s dashboard and is accompanied by knobs for volume and adjustment, as well as controls for essential climate management functions. Optional features include a Harman Kardon speaker system and an LTE wireless antenna, which transforms the sedan into a mobile hotspot.
The 2025 Subaru Legacy provides up to three USB ports. Subaru claims that the new Legacy has a sturdier platform that can reduce road noise at high speeds by up to 3 dB. The base trims come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, while higher-spec trims like the Sport use 18-inch tires. Interestingly, the 2025 Subaru could come with the 182-horsepower engine, rather than the turbo-4, which is reserved for Limited and Touring XT trims and is not paired with a sportier suspension.
Exterior and Interior
Regarding the exterior, the upcoming 2025 Subaru Legacy will not deviate much from its predecessor. Its front end is aerodynamic, and its roofline slopes into its trunk area at a steeper angle than the previous model. It’s easy to imagine the Legacy with more robust tires, a wagon body, a large roof rack, and unpainted side panels, even though the new Outback has not been released by Subaru.
The new Legacy is approximately 1.5 inches longer than before, with the same 108.3-inch wheelbase as last year’s model, and it stretches 190.6 inches from fender to fender. The dashboard of the 2025 Subaru appears quite similar to that of the Forester and Ascent, with one significant difference being its display.

Except for the base 2025 Subaru Legacy, an 11.6-inch touchscreen that controls the infotainment and climate functions is standard. Regardless of screen size, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are standard, and the built-in navigation is an optional feature with the larger display.
Specification
The 2025 Subaru Legacy borrows a 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine from the automaker’s Ascent, which is rated at 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that Subaru claims is capable of propelling the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.
Despite its muscular powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, Subaru estimates that the Legacy will achieve 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway when tested by the EPA. It’s worth noting that these figures are only applicable to the front-wheel drive model, and they don’t quite match the 25/34/29 mpg achieved by the turbocharged engine in the Nissan Altima.
The previous Legacy’s upmarket trims, powered by a flat-6 engine, have been discontinued. Instead, most 2025 Subaru Legacy trims will be powered by a revamped 2.5-liter flat-4 engine rated at 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT that sends power to all four wheels. Subaru estimates that this engine will achieve up to 35 mpg on the highway when tested by the EPA, which is just one mpg behind the all-wheel drive Altima.

2025 Subaru Legacy Release Date and Price
All 2025 Subaru Legacy sedans come standard with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and active lane control. Blind-spot monitors and a forward-facing camera are available as options.
Higher trims also include a driver-monitoring system that uses an infrared camera to keep an eye on the driver’s eyes. If it detects a drowsy driver or someone who is looking away from the road for an extended period, it will provide an audible warning, but it won’t take control of the vehicle. Subaru has yet to announce pricing for the 2025 Subaru Legacy.
